How to add application to CodySafe menu?
Answer
Users wishing to add applications that are not compatible with PortableApps Framework (PAF) can do it with Applications Manager.
It is necessary to copy application to your CodySafe drive before adding it to the menu.
Click Application Manager. Select Add Application tab.

- Adding application. Click “Browse” and select the application executable file.

Please notice that you shall select application located on your CodySafe removable drive, otherwise you will get error message:
Application manager will attempt to retrieve all available information, including Display Name, Application Icon, Description, etc. from the application file. If this information is unavailable or insufficient, or if user wants to change this information he can make it manually.
- Changing display name
Edit the Name to Display item in the right pane. - Command-line options (parameters)
The process of setting of command-line parameters for every portable application can be found in the application description on the product web page or on the resource you are downloading an application from.
Just copy a parameters string and paste it to the Command-line Options field of the Applications Manager. For example Skype requires the following string:
/datapath:”Data”/removable
Another example – VLC requires the string:
--no-plugins-cache --config=vlcrc

- Grouping applications
Select the Group in the dropdown menu. If there are no groups or if you want to create another group – you may create them by typing the group name in the Group field..
- Change application description
Select application folder in the left pane. Edit application description in the right pane. This description will appear when you place mouse cursor over the application icon in CodySafe main menu
Click “Apply” to save settings.
Some rare cases worth to be noticed:
Sometimes users are trying to add manually different portable applications that have the same name of executable file. In this case only later added application will appear in the menu. It is possible to solve this situation by renaming executable file of the portable application.
